HURTLE CREEK OUTFITTERS
ALASKA GRIZZLY BEAR AND BLACK BEAR HUNTING

Our Alaska bear hunting season typically begins in Mid-May with either five full days of  Alaska black bear hunting two-on-one style bear hunt, or Alaska grizzly bear hunting on ten day, one-on-one  bear hunt. When bear hunting remember a minimum of two additional days will need to be allotted for travel in and out of our bear hunting camp, as regulations stipulate that no one can bear hunt the same day they fly, and due to the ever changing Alaska weather, at least one day will be needed to return to the road system.

One of the highly sought after black bear color phases, the cinnamon phase, can be found in our area. Our black bears average 5 to 6 feet, with some occasionally larger. The grizzly bear in our area average 7 to 8 feet, with the occasional bear breaking the 9 foot mark.

COTTONWOOD GUIDE SERVICE
Great Alaskan Brown Bear Hunting

KODIAK BROWN BEAR HUNT or Peninsula BROWN BEAR HUNT Alaska Brown Bear hunting deserve the capital letters. You will always remember your first close encounter with the Monarch of Alaska. Depending on the time of the year, Cottonwood Creek Guide Service may hunt high up in the snow, to catch the big boars as they come out of hibernation in late April or sneak along the salmon streams in October for a taut nerve up close and personal experience. More laid back late spring coastal Alaska brown bear hunts are also productive. The hand deep thick fur of a coastal brown bear has to be seen to be appreciated. I prefer that you use a .338 or larger on these extra large brutes and a .375 H&H is the best if you can shoot it. For pure excitement nothing in North America can beat an Alaskan bear adventure.

ALASKA BROWN BEAR HUNT

The hunt will take place in the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, and there will be thousands of Bald Eagles feeding on salmon in the same location we will be hunting.

Many eagles will also be flying and as they continue to feed on salmon with the bears. The eagles occasionally attempt to perch on our heads if we are exposed and sitting very still, and the Brown Bears do not recognize us as a threat unless they wind us.
